At the Dako Foundation, we believe that mobility is not a privilege—it is a fundamental human right.
Across many underserved communities, hundreds of individuals living with physical disabilities face daily challenges that restrict their independence. Simple acts like going to school, running a small business, attending community gatherings, or even navigating around one’s own home become overwhelming obstacles without proper mobility support.
To break down these barriers and build an inclusive society, the Dako Foundation recently organized a transformational outreach event: Distributing high-quality, durable wheelchairs to physically-challenged individuals across local communities.

Breaking Barriers, Restoring Hope
For many beneficiaries and their families, receiving a wheelchair is far more than getting a piece of equipment—it is the gift of a new life.
Prior to this outreach, many of our recipients relied entirely on family members for daily movement or were forced to crawl on unpaved roads. The physical toll on their bodies and the emotional burden on their caregivers was immense.
During the distribution event, tears of joy and sighs of relief filled the air as men, women, and children were assisted into their brand-new wheelchairs.
“For years, I felt trapped in my own home and felt like a burden to my family. Today, the Dako Foundation has given me my freedom back. I can finally move around on my own and start working again.”
— Grace, Community Beneficiary
More Than Just Mobility
When you empower an individual with a wheelchair, the ripple effect reaches entire families and local economies:
- Restored Dignity: Beneficiaries gain independence, self-confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.
- Educational & Economic Access: Children can return to school, and adults can engage in livelihoods, trade, and vocational skills.
- Relief for Caregivers: Family members who previously spent entire days assisting loved ones can now seek employment or education themselves.
Beyond Distribution: Hands-On Support
Our commitment doesn’t end with handing over wheelchairs. The Dako Foundation team ensured that every beneficiary received:
- Proper Fitting & Adjustments: Customizing footrests and seating to ensure comfort and prevent posture issues.
- Mobility Training: Guiding beneficiaries and caregivers on safe usage, wheel maintenance, and navigating rough terrain.
- Follow-up Care Plan: Establishing contact with local community leaders to monitor the long-term impact on each recipient.
How You Can Help Us Reach the Next Community
This distribution exercise was only possible because of the selflessness and generosity of our donors, field volunteers, and partners. But our work is far from over.
There are still dozens of individuals on our waiting list praying for the gift of mobility.
